St. Michael CSS brought home 3 medals at the Ontario Technical Skills Competition held at Rim Park in May. We are proud to celebrate the collaboration and effective communication that was displayed in our Home Building Team, which earned a GOLD medal. Congratulations to Launi Weber, Greg Monden, Daryn Van Herk, and Peter Gras. The group trained to construct a 6x7 foot shed which included electrical, plumbing, roofing, siding and window components. Greg Monden also earned a Gold medal last year in the same category.
Ryan Ropp earned a silver medal for his efforts in the Individual Carpentry category. Ryan was given a set of blueprints which he has to read, and then recreate on the day of the contest. This year’s project was to build a complex doghouse. Ryan also completed last year, earning a Gold medal in Home Building.
Jessie Eusebi earned a Silver medal in the category of Aesthetics. This was Jessie’s first experience at Skills. Jessie completed a pedicure, manicure, bridal makeup that transitioned into evening makeup, facial and job interview. Jessie worked on live models that were provided to her by Skills for the competition. Jessie had to consistently display professionalism throughout her competition, and was a model ambassador for our school board. This is St. Michael’s first Aesthetics’ medal. Jessie will be attending Aesthetic school in London in the fall.
Congratulations to Coaches Mark Flanagan and Kathleen vonEuw!
